We've officially made it through the first week of 2017, so "New Year, New Me" right?! Wrong. New Year...but it's the same me. This year I've decided to avoid falling into the pitfalls of the infamous New Years Resolution. If I'm being completely honest, I've NEVER stuck to a New Years Resolution longer than the first week of January. I've been making the mistake of going along with what I thought was the norm; putting so much pressure on myself to change one specific thing. But what's so wrong with going against the grain? NOTHING! When did it become taboo to strive to be a better person for no specific reason?
Instead of focusing on one resolution that I would've already forgotten about, I'm going to do the exact opposite this year; let's call it the "Anti-New Years Resolution". In 2017, I'm going to continue to do the things I was already doing in 2016; I declared last year that I was going to stop caring about what others think. Now this is no small feat, especially since I've been obsessed with how I'm perceived through the scrutinizing eyes of the world for more years than I'm willing to mention (let's just say it's in the double digits..). I'm going to continue indulging in my guilty pleasure of listening to music into the wee hours of the morning. I'm going to continue JUST BEING ME. Hello world this is me! Love it or leave it; this is who I am and it's my time to shine! Throughout the rest of the year, I'll do more than just exist; I'll thrive!
What's your Anti-New Year's Resolution?
